California State University, Stanislaus serves a diverse student body of more than 10,000 at two locations in the Central Valley — a beautiful 228-acre campus in Turlock and the Stockton Campus, located in the city’s historic Magnolia District. Widely recognized for its dedicated faculty and high-quality academic programs, the University offers 43 majors, 41 minors and more than 100 areas of concentration, along with 16 master's degree programs, seven credential programs and a doctorate in educational leadership.

Stan State and South Korean Students Complete Coding Boot Camp

11 Stanislaus State computer science students participated in the Online Project-Based Software Coding Camp, joining 11 students from Tongmyong University in South Korea. Originally planned for last summer on the Stan State campus, the intensive four-week camp went virtual in the wake of COVID-19 and took place last month.

The Trustees' Award is the CSU's highest recognition of student achievement and provides donor-funded scholarships to students who demonstrate superior academic performance, personal accomplishments, community service and financial need.

JC Aguirre is one of six students to receive the first President's Central Valley First-Generation Scholarships from the University. At $12,500 each year for four years, Aguirre's scholarship will cover tuition, fees and other expenses at Stan State. In addition, he will receive a new laptop computer and ongoing support from dedicated professional and career mentors.

Six Awarded First-Generation Presidential Scholarship at Stan State

Demonstrating pride in serving first-generation students from the region, Stanislaus State announced the inaugural cohort of Stanislaus State President's Central Valley First-Generation Scholars. The first recipients are: Jose Aguirre III (Atwater), Melana Cook (Modesto), Harman Kooner (Turlock), Guadalupe Marquez (Atwater), Alexis Martinez (Los Banos) and Nathan Rohani (Turlock). The six recipients represent two counties - Stanislaus and Merced - within the six-county region served by Stan State.

Only one student per academic program receives this honor each year, and those students are awarded the Dean's Award of Excellence. Each program selected only its most exceptional student for this award. Each year, we look forward to the Outstanding Student Awards ceremony where we join together with students, their loved ones and our faculty, to celebrate your achievements. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not able to gather physically, but we did want to ensure that you received your award as well as our sincere congratulations. Stan State Students Stay #WarriorStrong While Interning From Home

By late February, Stanislaus State's Kinesiology Department had 28 health promotion students placed in internships in Stanislaus, Merced and San Joaquin counties. All seniors ready to graduate in May, the interns were gaining valuable experience in government offices, schools and nonprofit organizations while they worked on projects addressing childhood obesity, homelessness and other health issues.

Stan State Trio Wins Top Honors at CSU Student Research Competition

A year's worth of work and dedication paid off for Stan State senior math majors Andy Ponce, Kohl James and Victoria Morado, who took first place in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences Undergraduate category of the CSU Student Research Competition. The trio won the Stan State research competition held Feb. 28, which involved submitting a research paper, preparing a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation and participating in a five-minute question-and-answer session. They replicated the requirements for the state competition, but all of it was done online.

California State University, Stanislaus to Recognize Credential Candidates in the Class of 2020

Stanislaus State will recognize more than 300 credential candidates for graduation as a part of the Class of 2020. A variety of virtual celebrations are planned throughout May and June to recognize and commemorate the accomplishments of our graduates and how our Warrior community has been inspired by their resilience and determination. The campus remains fully committed to hosting all commencement ceremonies at a later time that is deemed safe for our graduates and their families to be on campus for a large gathering. The University will announce ceremony dates once new guidance about large group gatherings is issued. Today, the Class of 2020 has withstood a global pandemic, that has brought the world to a grinding halt/shutdown. And yet they persevered through a rapid transition to remote learning and self-isolation to complete their studies. Bravo!

Three Warriors selected to All-CCAA Men's Golf teams

The 2019-20 CCAA Men's Golf award winners have been selected. The All-CCAA Team and all award recipients were voted on by the league's nine head coaches, despite the shortened season. From Stanislaus State, senior Kobie Lockwood and junior Brad Sparrer both made the first team while Michael Jura III was an honorable mention.

Two Stan State Students Selected to Participate in USDA's Future Leaders in AG Program

Two Stan State students were selected to attended the USDA's 2020 Agricultural Outlook Forum as participants of the USDA Future Leaders in Agriculture Program. These students participated in a weeklong trip to Washington, D.C., capped off by their attendance at the Forum, USDA's largest annual meeting, held February 20-21, 2020 in Arlington, Va.

Twenty-eight Stanislaus State Students Awarded Grants from SERSCA Program

Twenty-eight Stanislaus State students have been awarded grants ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 each from the Student Engagement in Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity (SERSCA) Program. The grants will fund 12 students as graduate assistants and 16 students as undergraduate assistants for the 2019-2020 academic year. The grants allow the students to work alongside faculty and engage in meaningful activities, such as research, creative projects and professional development.

Three Stan State students conducted their dissertation research related to community equity audits focused on "place, health, and education" under the advisement of Dr. Kathryn McKenzie. After defending their dissertation, they went on to translate their research into book form which is now promising to be a valuable resource for educational and community leaders.

Macky Morris receives CCAA Championship Scholar Award

Prior to first serve of Thursday's CCAA Tournament quarterfinal match, Stanislaus State sophomore Macky Morris was brought out to mid-court to receive one of the highest honors as a student-athlete. Morris was presented the CCAA Volleyball Championship Scholar award by CCAA Commissioner Mitch Cox in a pre-match presentation. The CCAA Championship Scholar Award recognizes the academic and athletic achievement of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached competition at the Conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Championship Scholar Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating in each CCAA-Sponsored Championship.

During a pre-game ceremony on Friday at Triton Soccer Stadium, CCAA Commissioner Mitch Cox presented Autumn Halvorsen the CCAA Women's Soccer Championship Scholar Award. The CCAA Championship Scholar Award recognizes the academic and athletic achievement of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached competition at the Conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
