During the Spring 2026 STANYS awards, 28 Stan State student-athletes were inducted into the second class of the California Phi Chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma (XA) National Student-Athlete Honor Society. "We celebrate not only the achievements of our scholar-athletes throughout their sport, but their unwavering commitment to excellence in the classroom," said Stan State Athletics Academic Advisor Shealyn Craven. "As this year's class of Chi Alpha Sigma at Stan State, they continue to set a powerful example of what it means to lead with discipline, integrity, and purpose. They are the standard - where academic and athletic excellence unite." To be inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, student-athletes must attend a four-year accredited institution affiliated with an organization such as the NCAA, maintain junior academic standing, and achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 while demonstrating strong character and commitment to athletics and academics. The Stan State class posted an impressive collective GPA of 3.76. Stanislaus State's Alpha Alpha Alpha chapter held its Spring 2025 induction ceremonies for new members at the University's Stockton and Turlock campuses. Tri-Alpha is a nationally recognized honor society for first-generation college students who have demonstrated academic excellence. Stanislaus State established its chapter in 2020 and has inducted more than 600 members. These ceremonies honor the newest members as they are inducted into the society and continue to advance and excel in their academic and university careers.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi-the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines- has recognized Stanislaus State's chapter as a Circle of Excellence Gold Chapter, the second-highest commendation a chapter can receive from the organization. The award is given to chapters that exceed expectations in chapter operations and that demonstrate sustainability and vitality. Since Stanislaus State Chapter 282 was chartered in 1999, it has inducted more than 1,800 members. "We're so grateful the Society recognizes the dedication of this chapter's members and honors the labor of the leadership team," said chapter president and Professor of English Scott Davis. "We intend to use this award directly to support student success at Stanislaus State."

The purpose of this organization is to recognize academic excellence and provide opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and campus and community service for first-generation college students.

Eighty-six students and four faculty members from California State University, Stanislaus, have joined the esteemed ranks of the University's Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi chapter. The cohort was initiated during a virtual ceremony in December.
