Stan State Student Studies Science on the High Seas
California State University, Stanislaus student Danah Gissler from Sonora studied this summer on a 10-day journey aboard the STEMSEAS Research Vessel (RV) Neil Armstrong. Gissler, who is a Geology major, traveled from Woods Hole, Massachusetts to Iceland to study oceanographic research. The STEMSEAS program introduces undergraduate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) students, as well as other interested students, to oceanography and geoscience on the open seas before they settle on their career goals. Twenty-eight Stanislaus State Students Awarded Grants from SERSCA Program
Twenty-eight Stanislaus State students have been awarded grants ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 each from the Student Engagement in Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity (SERSCA) Program. The grants will fund 12 students as graduate assistants and 16 students as undergraduate assistants for the 2019-2020 academic year. The grants allow the students to work alongside faculty and engage in meaningful activities, such as research, creative projects and professional development.
