State Budget Allocates $55 Million for Programmatic and Capital Improvements at Stockton Campus

Turlock, CA (08/16/2021) — The 2021-22 California budget signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom allocates $54 million to California State University, Stanislaus to support capital enhancements at the Stockton Campus location, including new classrooms that will enhance the educational experience. Stan State will also receive $1 million for the Stockton Campus to expand enrollment by 115 full-time students, increasing access to quality public higher education and attracting more students to seek learning opportunities in San Joaquin County. The funding was championed by Senator Susan Eggman and Assemblymember Carlos Villapudua.

"We are incredibly thankful for the steadfast advocacy of Senator Eggman and support of Assemblymember Villapudua for securing $54 million in funding to support capital enhancements at our Stockton Campus," said President Ellen Junn. "Stanislaus State is committed to expanding affordable, high-quality educational opportunities and programs for Stockton and San Joaquin County residents. This significant investment in the Stockton Campus will help us better serve the needs of the community and align our academic offerings with regional workforce needs."

"An investment in education in Stockton reaches far beyond the graduates. The higher number of college graduates affirms that Stockton is a place to expand business with an educated workforce and draws new employers and organizations to the city," said Patrick Johnston, former California State Senator and chair of the Stockton Campus Site Authority.

"Securing this investment in our community is something I've made a priority for years and it could not have happened without the steadfast support of the people of the City of Stockton. This is more than a building; it is a catalyst for dreams and an economic boost for the city. This investment will create real educational and economic opportunities in the very near future, while building further momentum for a full CSU Stockton!"

The funding will be used in a variety of ways.
